Desktop label printers give offices, retail stores, clinics and small warehouses fast, professional barcode labels without the footprint or cost of an industrial printer. We supply desktop models from Zebra, Bixolon, Honeywell and TSC.
Direct thermal or thermal transfer?
Direct thermal printers need no ribbon and are ideal for shipping labels, receipts and short-life labels. Thermal transfer printers use a ribbon to produce durable, smudge-resistant labels for assets, products and anything that has to last. Many models, such as the Zebra ZD421 and ZD621 series, are available in both versions.
Choosing a desktop label printer
- Print resolution: 203 dpi suits most shipping and barcode labels; 300 dpi gives sharper small text and 2D barcodes.
- Connectivity: USB for a single PC, Ethernet or Wi-Fi for shared printing, and Bluetooth for mobile devices.
- Specialist options: healthcare (HC) models with disinfectant-ready plastics, and RFID models such as the ZD621R that encode RFID labels as they print.
